This painting was completely executed with a coarse brush. A cold vapor naturally pervades the paper. The artist used slight reddish-brown color on the figures, boat and houses. The old masters customarily used washes on the sky and water when painting snow scene. By choosing not to do so, Lu Zhi created a more personal image.
