The Dashing Hero of a Thousand Ages

There have been few exhibitions this year because many museums around the world were closed due to the pandemic. The good news is that some of them have re-opened and we will see a few major exhibitions in the coming months. The latest addition is centered on the life of Su Shi, also known by his pseudonym as Su Dongpo. This new exhibition, titled “The Dashing Hero of A Thousand Ages”, just opened today at the Palace Museum in Beijing. It features Su Shi’s own calligraphy, as well as works by those in his social circle, for example, Huang Tingjian and Mi Fu. This exhibition also contains paintings and calligraphy on themes related to Su Dongpo, such as the Red Cliff.

This exhibition is through October 30, 2020. It is located inside the Hall of Literary Brilliance (Wenhua Dian, 文華殿) in the Palace Museum, Beijing. The Palace Museum is closed on Mondays. Tickets must be reserved online in advance.
